According to data from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake had a magnitude of 4.8 and struck approximately 30 miles northeast of Midland on February 28, 2025, at 1:33 p.m. local time.

The quake occurred at a depth of about 4 miles, yet immediate reports indicated that no injuries or damages were reported following the event.

West Texas also experienced a magnitude 4.9 earthquake could be felt in El Paso a little after 10 p.m. on February 14, 2025.

These tremors were felt across parts of West Texas and neighboring areas in New Mexico, including El Paso, Carlsbad, Alamogordo, and Roswell.

The USGS Shake Map indicated that the tremors from the February 28 earthquake were felt as far north as Lubbock and east to Abilene.
