Two people died after a car crash in Johnson County, including a 5-month-old baby.
The incident occurred on September 21 at about 10:15 a.m. just south of Cleburne.
Police said the crash involved two vehicles at an intersection on County Road 310A. An SUV failed to yield the right of way to a commercial truck traveling southbound on State Highway 171.
The SUV drove into the intersection and was struck by the commercial truck.
The driver of the SUV, a 23-year-old woman who police noted was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene, along with a 5-month-old boy who was in a car seat.
Two other passengers in the SUV sustained severe injuries.
An air ambulance transported a 55-year-old female passenger with traumatic injuries to John Peter Smith hospital. An injured 2-year-old, also in a car seat, had to be transported to Cook Children’s hospital.
Both the driver and passenger in the commercial truck sustained non-incapacitating injuries. They were treated on the scene and subsequently released.
An investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is ongoing.
Sergeant William Lockridge of the DPS told The Dallas Express, “There is no additional information at this time.”
