Despite facing pushback from members of the Texas GOP over endorsing Republican lawmakers currently under censure, President Donald Trump has issued endorsements to nearly every Texas Republican who supported school choice legislation during the recent legislative session.

Only two House Republicans and one Texas Senator voted against school choice this session, leaving the majority of Republican lawmakers in alignment with Trump’s education agenda.

The endorsement letter stated, “Thanks to the dedication of Lone Star State Legislators like you, Texas can now empower parents to choose the school that is BEST for their child, a Gigantic Victory for Texas families,” reported Texas Scorecard.

Trump praised the lawmakers for their “Professionalism” and “Patriotism,” granting what he described as his “Complete and Total Endorsement.”

Several lawmakers took to social media to celebrate the recognition.

“Breaking: I am proud to announce that I have been endorsed by the greatest President of my lifetime, Donald J Trump. I cannot wait to continue fighting alongside President Trump for our Texas Conservative Values and Make America Great Again for this generation and the next,” State Rep. Nate Schatzline wrote on X.

“I have been a fearless supporter and champion for our Republican Party platform. President Trump knows I will continue to be a strong voice for our conservative values in the Texas House,” State Rep. David Lowe posted.

Even more moderate Republicans, such as Speaker Dustin Burrows and Representative Cole Hefner, received endorsements from the former President.

The endorsements, however, have not gone without criticism from grassroots conservatives. Activists and other leaders believe not every Republican — such as Speaker Burrows — should receive a Trump endorsement due to their moderate record.

“Endorsements do not mean anything anymore when you endorse those who have betrayed the American people. Endorsements are being thrown around like candy, and Trump has diluted the meaning of the word,” Sarah Fields wrote on X.

The State Republican Executive Committee recently passed a resolution urging President Trump to hold off on endorsements until after the party’s censure process is complete.

“Be it resolved that the Republican Party of Texas urges President Trump to withhold his endorsement of Texas officeholders until after November 8, 2025, by which date the Rule Number 44 censure process would be complete and any penalties would have been imposed,” the resolution read.
