City-run transit services will waive ticket fees to polling stations during early voting and on election day.

The Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) is offering free transportation on the day of the Texas general election, Tuesday, November 8.

Many programs providing transportation to the voting locations are available during the early voting period, ending November 4 and on election day.

Voters can ride without paying for a ticket on buses, trains, GoLink, street car services, and more, according to DART.

No proof of voter registration is necessary. GoLink riders can use promo code VOTE08 for a day pass throughout November 8.

DART is offering connections to polling locations through its special shuttle service, Route 222, according to its website.

Barbara Larkin, vice president of voter services at the League of Women Voters of Dallas, told Kera News in February that people regularly reach out to them for help getting to the polls.

“People are always in search of a ride to the polls,” claimed Larkin. “This year, with people having difficulties with the mail-in ballot process, the demand for transportation will likely be higher.”

Meanwhile, Tarrant County voters can ride to the polls for early voting and election day using all Trinity Metro services as well as Arlington’s Via and Handitran.

The Tarrant County Commissioners Court approved a collaboration with the Tarrant County transport services in order to offset the cost for customers to ride during the election season with taxpayer funds.

To access these services, riders will need to show their registration card or current Texas I.D.
