Five people were injured in a shooting incident at an annual East Texas trail ride and concert, according to NBC News.

The Smith County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) responded to a pasture in the eastern part of the county after receiving a report of multiple gunshot victims around 12:35 a.m. Sunday.

The yearly trail ride is sponsored by Unified Elite Riderzz from Marshall, Texas.

According to SCSO, witnesses told investigators that a fight started near a concert stage, followed by one or more trail ride groups shooting into the crowd.

After the initial shooting, other concert-goers ran back to the security area where guards had been collecting weapons from attendees and retrieved their own firearms, the sheriff’s office said.

A second and third shooting then reportedly took place, but investigators believe all the injuries happened during the first shooting.

Four victims were treated and released from area hospitals. One person remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition, SCSO said.

Investigators continued to interview witnesses on Sunday. No further information is available.

Unified Elite Riderzz sends prayers to the family and friends involved in the incident, as posted on the group’s Facebook page.
