Gov. Greg Abbott swore in Texas veterans who recently passed the bar exam during a special ceremony at the Governor’s Mansion on Tuesday.
The ceremony honored military veterans beginning their legal careers, highlighting Texas’ commitment to supporting service members transitioning to civilian professions.
“All of us owe an extraordinary debt of gratitude for everybody who served,” said Abbott. “Without our military might, we wouldn’t have the economic might and freedom that we have today. Thank you for your service, and congratulations to you all for passing the bar exam.”
Abbott administered the oath to veterans who fulfilled the requirements for admission to the State Bar of Texas. The governor praised their dedication both in military service and their future work in Texas courts.
During his remarks, Abbott highlighted state programs supporting veteran transitions. He mentioned Operation Welcome Home and Hiring Red, White and You! as key initiatives helping veterans succeed in civilian life.
Former Texas Supreme Court Justice Craig Enoch attended the ceremony alongside University of Texas School of Law Dean Robert Chesney. Haynes Boone Associate Alexander Clark also joined the gathering at the Governor’s Mansion.
The ceremony took place on Veterans Day, adding symbolic significance to the veterans’ professional milestone.
