(Texas Scorecard) – As Texans move from rescue to recovery efforts following the catastrophic floods in the Hill Country, several universities across the state have joined the effort.

The Texas A&M system, which houses eight state agencies in addition to its educational institutions, is deeply involved in recovery efforts.

The Texas Division of Emergency Management sent an incident management team to assist emergency support teams. TDEM also dispatched an Incident Support Task Force and a Disaster Recovery Task Force to aid local officials.

A&M’s Engineering Extension Service deployed Swift Water Rescue Boat Squads to facilitate rescue and evacuation operations. The A&M Forest Service is helping clear roadways, while A&M’s AgriLife Extension Service is supporting veterinary and livestock needs. The Veterinary Emergency Team is providing veterinary medical support. Finally, A&M’s Public Works Response Team will help with infrastructure needs.

Social media reports have also indicated that the Aggie alumni association texted members who live in the Hill Country to determine their needs and connect them with resources.

Baylor University’s Department of Missions, Service and Public Life will host sessions to pack disaster aid relief kits on July 9, 10, and 15 at 2 pm at the Bobo Spiritual Life Center. Baylor will also host a prayer meeting on July 17th at 12 pm in Ellison Chapel.

The University of North Texas’ Health Science Center is providing rapid DNA testing to help identify flood victims.

At the University of Texas at Austin, several student organizations partnered to hold a vigil at the University Tower on Tuesday night.

Longhorn quarterback Arch Manning is also raising money to support four organizations dedicated to flood relief.  Manning has made a personal contribution to each.

Flood relief and recovery efforts will continue for at least the next several months.
