A 38-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting and vehicle theft that left another man and a two-year-old child dead, according to a Houston Police Department (HPD) press release.

The suspect, Bolanle Fadairo, 38, was arrested on two counts of murder and one count of tampering with evidence at about 4 a.m. on Wednesday by members of HPD’s southwest crime suppression team.

HPD officers had responded to a call from a business at 5501 El Camino Del Rey Street the previous day and found a man who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Fadairo allegedly met the victim at the location around 1:45 p.m. The two spoke briefly, and then Fadairo shot him, according to police.

The victim fled a short distance and reportedly collapsed in a parking lot.

Fadairo fled the scene in the victim’s black Chevrolet Traverse, which contained the victim’s two-year-old son.

At about 6:35 p.m., the victim’s wife called HPD to report her husband and two-year-old son missing, police said. She provided her husband’s vehicle information.

Police found the missing vehicle with the child inside about a mile from the shooting. The two-year-old was unresponsive. Officers attempted CPR, but the child died and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A cause of death has not been released, pending autopsy results.

“Nobody wishes more than me that we would have had more then, that we could have found this child in time,” HPD Executive Assistant Chief Larry Satterwhite said.

The identities of the two victims have not been released pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
