Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced the launch of a new cloud-based system modernizing child support operations.
The platform, known as ChAMP — an acronym for Children Are My Priority — replaced a 30-year-old system on June 12.
The upgrade affects the nation’s largest child support program, managing 1.5 million cases and collecting over $4 billion annually for Texas children.
“ChAMP represents a significant milestone in our commitment to serving Texas families,” said Attorney General Paxton. “This system modernizes the core of our child support operations, empowering our staff with better tools and giving parents the timely support and information they deserve.”
Since its launch, ChAMP has processed 3.1 million payments totaling $614 million. This six-week total exceeds what 35 states disburse in an entire year.
The new self-service portal logged over one million visits in its first month. Parents can now access case information 24/7 from any device.
More than 100,000 Texas employers already use the new employer portal. The system allows secure information exchange and streamlined new hire reporting.
Key financial processes that previously took five business days are now completed in near real-time. The cloud-based platform consolidates multiple data sources into one unified system.
Paxton emphasized his office’s ongoing commitment to innovation.
“My office will continue to prioritize innovation that directly helps the children of Texas because fighting for them and their future will always be at the forefront of the work we do.”
The Office of the Attorney General’s Child Support Division maintains its reputation for leadership in child support services. ChAMP’s flexible design allows for continuous improvements that were impossible under the previous legacy infrastructure.
