Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham is offering three special gifts to those who donate $100 to the Save Texas History Program through December 16.

The limited-time promotion includes an autographed heritage map, a 2025 Christmas ornament, and a 2026 calendar. The holiday campaign aims to preserve historic documents housed in the General Land Office Archives while providing Texans with unique gifts celebrating state history.

Donors will receive an Alamo Defenders Heritage Map personally signed by Buckingham that honors where the defenders came from and commemorates their sacrifice. The package also includes a collector’s ornament featuring the Yellow Rose Compass design inspired by the heritage map.

A 2026 GLO Map Calendar rounds out the gift set. Each month highlights a different archival map with daily Texas history facts.

“Give the gift of Texas history,” Buckingham encouraged in announcing the special offer. The commissioner made history in 2022 as Texas’ first female Land Commissioner.

The Save Texas History program launched in 2004 to generate public support and private funding for preserving the GLO’s extensive map and document collection. All proceeds from ornament and map sales benefit the preservation initiative.

The GLO manages state lands, supports public education funding, assists disaster recovery efforts, and maintains historical archives dating to Texas’ founding.

Individual items will remain available for purchase. Orders must be placed by December 19 for Christmas delivery.
