Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced on Tuesday that more than $1.9 million in emergency grants will be provided to hospitals in Kerrville and Llano that were damaged by recent catastrophic flooding.

The funding will help two critical healthcare facilities repair flood damage and maintain operations while serving communities recovering from disaster.

“Our healthcare professionals are working tirelessly on the front lines to help heal Texans who have been injured during these devastating floods,” Abbott said. “This over $1.9 million in emergency funding will help repair damages to Kerrville and Llano hospitals and equipment, provide staffing support, and address any operational issues to ensure Texans continue to receive the quality care they need.”

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission will distribute the emergency hardship grants. Peterson Regional Medical Center in Kerrville will receive $1.5 million, while Llano Regional Hospital was awarded more than $396,000.

Hospitals can use the funds for structural repairs, equipment fixes, staffing support, and operational expenses. The grants come as both facilities face unplanned costs from flood damage.

“We’re grateful for the opportunity to support these hospitals in Kerrville and Llano as they continue to provide much-needed services to their communities,” said HHS Executive Commissioner Cecile Erwin Young. “Serving Texans is our priority, and these resources allow these hospitals to continue helping those who need it most right now.”

The emergency funding aligns with Texas’s Rural Hospital Services Strategic Plan. The initiative aims to ensure rural residents maintain access to hospital services during emergencies and beyond.

Abbott thanked first responders and healthcare workers for their round-the-clock efforts in flood-impacted areas. The grants represent immediate state support as communities begin long-term recovery efforts.
