Governor Greg Abbott announced that federal disaster loans are now available for five Texas counties devastated by the July flooding.

The U.S. Small Business Administration approved the governor’s request for assistance in Coke, Concho, Kendall, Mason, and Sutton counties.

The declaration unlocks low-interest loans for homeowners, renters, and businesses still recovering from floods that struck during the Fourth of July weekend. The assistance comes more than two months after the catastrophic flooding damaged communities across central Texas.

“With the approval of this disaster declaration, more communities impacted by the devastating floods that took place over the Fourth of July weekend will have access to critical financial assistance they need to recover,” said Governor Abbott. “I thank the Texas Division of Emergency Management for working with our federal partners to ensure Texans have the support they need to rebuild.”

The SBA assistance includes three loan programs: Home Disaster Loans, Business Physical Disaster Loans, and Economic Injury Disaster Loans. These programs offer below-market interest rates to help residents and businesses rebuild.

“Texas will continue to provide all necessary resources to those affected by these catastrophic floods so they can rebuild and move forward,” Abbott added.

Residents can apply online at sba.gov/disaster or call the SBA’s Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955. Applications and additional information are also available by emailing [email protected].

The announcement marks the latest federal assistance for Texas communities hit by severe weather this year. Officials have not yet released specific damage estimates from the July floods.
