Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced Saturday that the federal government has expanded President Donald J. Trump’s Major Disaster Declaration to include Hamilton and Travis counties following historic flooding that devastated parts of Central and West Texas.
“I thank President Trump for swiftly adding Hamilton and Travis counties to his Major Disaster Declaration,” said Gov. Abbott. “Our federal partnership is key to help impacted communities in Hamilton and Travis counties and across the state receive crucial public assistance to recover and rebuild. Texans are resilient, and with the continued support at every level, we will overcome this devastation.”
With this update, 15 Texas counties are now approved for FEMA’s Public Assistance program, which provides federal support for emergency work and repair or replacement of disaster-damaged infrastructure. Approved counties include:

Additionally, qualifying residents in six counties—Burnet, Kerr, San Saba, Tom Green, Travis, and Williamson—remain eligible for FEMA’s Individual Assistance program. Texans in these counties can apply for support online at disasterassistance.gov or by calling 800-621-3362.
Abbott’s Flood Response Continues
Gov. Abbott’s office has taken more than two dozen actions in response to the flooding crisis, working with local and federal officials to speed recovery. Key actions include:

Touring damage alongside President Trump in Kerrville and other affected areas

Securing $1.9 million in federal grants for impacted hospitals in Kerrville and Llano

Launching the Texas Flooding Emotional Support Line

Activating disaster unemployment assistance

Expanding SNAP hot food benefits in 26 counties

Deploying state emergency response teams and elevating the State Operations Center readiness level

Making $5 million available through the Texas Micro-Business Disaster Recovery Loan Program
Additional counties may be added to the disaster declaration as damage assessments continue.
“With President Trump’s continued support and the state’s full mobilization, Texas is making sure no impacted community is left behind,” Abbott said.
