The State Representative for Texas House District 43 is calling for an investigation into U.S. Rep. Kay Granger’s staff for failing to disclose to the public that she had been living in an assisted living facility with memory issues.
“It has come to my attention that the Honorable Norvell Kay Granger (R-Forth Worth) who has represented the 12th Congressional district in Washington DC since 1997, may have recently suffered mental health issues that would have required her staff members to IMMEDIATELY REPORT AND SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION FOR HER YEARS AGO! I ask for a full investigation of any health professional that may have “cleared” her to resume “normal work duties” and A COMPLETE AND THOROUGH INVESTIGATION OF HER DISTRICT AND DC STAFF to analyze WHAT THEY KNEW,” Rep. J.M. Lozano (R-Kingsville) posted on X.
“WHEN THEY KNEW IT AND WHAT THEY DID IN RESPONSE with respect to her mental health and deteriorating cognitive skills…..she represents over 1.25 MILLION PEOPLE IN THE GREAT STATE OF TEXAS….I want to know if their VOICE has ever meant less or even been rendered MEANINGLESS because STAFF chose to LIE to her constituents. Congresswoman Granger has missed HUNDREDS if not THOUSANDS of votes and WE THE PEOPLE deserve to know if they were MISLED BY UNELECTED STAFFERS…..THE PEOPLE HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW…PLEASE ADVISE…,” Lozano added.
Others have echoed Lozano’s stance.
“The people of Texas want answers for this. We need term limits! Every elected official should take a mental test every year to see if they’re fit to run for office, outrageous what this Congresswoman & her staff did,” X user named Celia posted.
“Don’t forget the U.S. Speaker of the House, the U.S. House Republican Whip, and the U.S. House Republican Majority Leader. Those three ABSOLUTELY KNEW what was going on. You don’t miss votes without the Whip riding your ass, let alone 100+ votes,” added X poster Wib Gridley.
As initially revealed by The Dallas Express, the DX team visited the assisted living facility to verify whether Granger was residing there and to ask how she planned to vote on the spending bill. Upon arrival, two employees confirmed that Granger was living at the facility. However, DX was not allowed to interview Granger.
The Congresswoman has not voted since late July.
Other leaders have called for an investigation into Granger’s staff.
“This demands an ethics investigation because what was the staff doing, how were they responding to constituents?” former U.S. Rep. and news commentator Jason Chaffetz said on Fox News Outnumbered.
“That in itself, I think, is very problematic. And she was collecting a paycheck. I think that money needs to be returned to the Treasury for sure,” U.S. Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) told Newsmax.
“The staff has been defrauding the public by putting up those types of posts, acting as if everything was OK,” Malliotakis said. “It really is, I think, outrageous.”
The Dallas Express reached out to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and Governor of Texas Greg Abbott for comment but did not receive a response.
