The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the death of a deputy who died after passing out while responding to a call on Sunday.

Deputy Billy W. Scheets was responding to a call on June 5 in north Tarrant County when he passed out on the scene and became unresponsive, according to a press release.

The press release further states that a second deputy on the scene acted quickly and began CPR on Deputy Scheets before he was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

In the aftermath of this incident, law enforcement personnel from different agencies gathered at the hospital for hours to show their respect for Deputy Scheets and escort his remains to the Medical Examiner’s Office later that same evening, the press release states.

The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office released a statement, saying, “It was an unbelievable outpouring of kindness. We are humbled by the overwhelming support of the community and surrounding agencies. We ask that you keep the family and our team in your thoughts and prayers in the coming days.”
