Severe thunderstorms swept through the Metroplex and other North Texas counties Sunday evening, bringing high winds, damage, and power outages throughout the area.

Denton, Tarrant, Collin, and Dallas County saw multiple severe thunderstorm warnings Sunday afternoon, with wind gusts of as much as 60 mph.

Oncor, the Texas electric utility company, reported as many as 132,000 customers were without power in the North Texas area. Around 122,000 of those customers were in Dallas County.

Some structures in Dallas were damaged during the severe weather event.

A building under construction in the Old East Dallas area was damaged by high winds, blowing portions of the structure over. WFAA shared a video of the collapse can be seen here on Twitter.

An apartment complex near Royal Lane and Abrams Road in North Dallas also suffered damage from the storm. Strong winds knocked bricks off the building, piling them on the street and atop cars, according to reports.

Trees were blown down across the Metroplex. Former journalist Katherine Unmuth shared photos on her Twitter account of fallen trees blocking the streets in the Lakewood Heights neighborhood in East Dallas.

The Labor Day forecast predicted a muggy Monday morning, with a 20% chance of storms and gusty winds, mainly south of Dallas, according to the National Weather Service.

Reports suggest it will be mostly sunny in the afternoon, with a high near 94 degrees and calm winds, around 5 mph.
