U.S. Rep. Brandon Gill (R-Texas) has endorsed Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in his bid to become the next U.S. senator from Texas.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Paxton and U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) advanced to a runoff election scheduled for May 26, with Cornyn receiving 43% of the vote and Paxton receiving 41%.
The endorsement comes as tensions between the two candidates have escalated in recent weeks over the SAVE America Act, an election-integrity bill that has emerged as a key issue in the runoff.
Paxton used the legislation as leverage in the race, posting that he would “consider dropping out” if Senate leadership moved to pass the bill, as DX previously reported.
In a written piece published by Breitbart, Gill criticized the Senate for failing to pass what he described as meaningful legislation, including the SAVE America Act and funding for the Department of Homeland Security.
“Paxton’s in a heated primary runoff with four term incumbent John Cornyn, who is well known in Texas and has virtually unlimited financial support. But Texas voters are starving for change. They want a Senator who will relentlessly and assiduously fight the Left and who will use every tool necessary to win. Ken Paxton will,” Gill wrote.
“Electing Ken Paxton is the single greatest opportunity in 2026 to send a message that Texans will not tolerate anything less. That’s why in the upcoming runoff elections, I’ll be voting for Paxton, and I hope you will too,” Gill added.
Paxton responded to the endorsement on X.
“I’m honored to be endorsed by one of the most fearless and effective fighters in all of Congress. Brandon Gill is an absolute champion for the conservative movement and the American people. I’m proud to have his support,” Paxton wrote on X.

The dispute over the SAVE America Act has also centered on Senate rules, including whether Republicans should alter or bypass the filibuster to advance the legislation.
Cornyn has stated he would support “whatever changes to Senate rules that may prove necessary” to pass the bill, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
Recent polling suggests Paxton has gained momentum since the March primary. A Senate Majority PAC survey found that 47% of respondents support Paxton compared to 42% for Cornyn, with 12% remaining undecided, according to Newsweek.
Cornyn has also addressed the race publicly.
“I won by 10 points in 2020 and helped carry races down the ballot. The wrong nominee puts ALL of Texas at risk, not just this Senate seat,” Team Cornyn wrote on X on April 1.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, an investigation into Cornyn’s record and his daughter Haley Cornyn’s lobbying career found instances where her employers and clients appeared to benefit from federal actions aligned with the senator’s work.
