The Plano Police Department has announced that registration is now open for its 2022 Vacation Safety School.

The Vacation Safety School is a free program to teach safety skills to elementary school children. The program teaches participants about home alone safety, gun safety, bicycle safety, traffic safety, and personal safety/stranger awareness.

The program also features 911 practice calls, learning about search and rescue dogs, a bike rodeo, a fire station tour, and information about basic first aid.

Plano Police Department holds the Vacation Safety School every summer. The school is available over four different one-week sessions to host 30 children from age six to nine each session.

Students interested in the program can register at the Plano Police Department at 7501-A Independence Parkway. Registration is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Participants are required to be residents of Plano. Preference will be given to students who have not benefited from the program in the past.

More information about the summer Vacation Safety School can be found on the website for the city of Plano.
