The excitement is building as the Lotto Texas jackpot continues to soar.

With no winner in Saturday’s drawing, the estimated jackpot for Monday night’s drawing has climbed to a staggering $72 million.

Now in its 91st draw, it has an estimated cash value of $42.51 million, or $32,307,600 after federal taxes, per NBC 5 DFW. Texas lottery winners are not required to pay state tax on their winnings.

Back in 2010, the Lotto Texas jackpot reached an estimated $97 million before a winner was announced on May 29.

The current jackpot is not only the largest advertised jackpot in the state lottery since then, but it is also the second-largest running in North America right now.

The Powerball currently has an advertised jackpot of $235 million and will also be drawn on Monday night.

The jackpot for the Mega Millions currently stands at $20 million after a winner from New York matched all numbers, plus the multiplier on Friday. The jackpot stood at $476 million, with an estimated cash value of $253.1 million.

Two other winners from Massachusetts and Illinois won $1 million by matching all five numbers.

Texans appear very keen to claim a piece of the Lotto Texas jackpot.

“Sales over the last few days indicate that our players are excited to have another chance to play for the Lotto Texas jackpot tonight, which is one of the largest in game history and still among the largest in the world,” said Gary Grief, executive director of the Texas Lottery Commission, per NBC 5.

As many North Texans hope to enter the winner’s circle, it may be encouraging to know that several locals recently scored in the Texas Two Step lotto draw held on April 6, as The Dallas Express previously reported.

The holders of all 10 winning tickets split the $1.55 million jackpot.

If you find yourself with a winning ticket, the Texas Lottery has several tips to ensure speedy delivery of your winnings.

Make sure to sign the back of the ticket and submit a claim form if you mail it to a claim center.

Have proper identification ready, as it is required in order to receive your winnings.

Also, avoid making any physical alterations to the winning ticket. Even if it is torn up, do not attempt to glue it back together. Submit the pieces as they are.
