A massive fire at an apartment complex under construction in Rockwall County has been contained.

The fire broke out this morning at 5:37 a.m. at the Prose apartment complex near I-30 and FM 551 in the city of Fate, according to the City’s Facebook page.

The Rockwall County Alert System confirmed there was a large structure fire in Fate, and officials asked that people avoid the area as crews battled the blaze.

Although fire crews responded quickly, one building was lost to the fire. The building was not occupied, and there were no injuries due to the fire.

The Williamsburg area to the immediate south and west of the fire was evacuated as a precaution.

The blaze did not affect any nearby buildings or structures.

By 7:30 a.m., the fire appeared contained, as primarily white smoke was visible instead of flames.

Multiple agencies responded to the incident, including Fate, Rockwall, Royse City, Greenville, Heath, McLendon-Chisholm, Rowlett, Wylie, and Cash.

The City reported that water infrastructure, including the city’s water tower, is still functioning normally.

The cause of the fire is still being determined.
