An ongoing investigation seeks to unravel mysteries surrounding the discovery of a dead body near Fort Hood.

On Tuesday, August 9, Members of a highway clean-up crew found the corpse along the side of I-14 while conducting work near the army base. They notified deputies from the Coryell County Sheriff’s office shortly after 10 a.m.

When law enforcement officials arrived, they confirmed that the man was indeed dead after entering the camping tent set up along the tree line by the roadway.

The body has been taken to the Southwest Forensic Institute in Dallas for an autopsy according to the orders of Justice of the Peace John Guinn, the local authority responsible for the decision.

The sheriff’s office is still attempting to determine the reasons and circumstances that led to the man’s death. Until the deceased person’s family has been located and informed of his passing, the identity of the individual will not be disclosed to the public.
