Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has launched an investigation into Lululemon over possible toxic chemicals in its activewear.

Paxton issued a Civil Investigative Demand to Lululemon USA Inc. to probe whether the company misled consumers on product safety, quality, and health effects, the AG’s office announced on April 13.

The activewear brand posted more than $11 billion in revenue for fiscal year 2025. It promotes itself as a wellness lifestyle company focused on sustainability and performance.

Recent research and consumer worries have spotlighted synthetic materials and compounds in such apparel linked to endocrine disruption, infertility, cancer, and other health risks.

Paxton’s probe targets potential PFAS, or “forever chemicals,” in Lululemon athletic wear that its health-focused buyers might not anticipate given the marketing. Officials also plan to scrutinize the firm’s Restricted Substances List, testing methods, and supply chain to check alignment with its safety claims.

“Americans should not have to worry if they are being deceived when trying to make healthy choices for themselves and their families,” Paxton said. “I will not allow any corporation to sell harmful, toxic materials to consumers at a premium price under the guise of wellness and sustainability. If Lululemon has violated Texas law, it will be held accountable.”
