Two individuals sustained minor injuries on Thursday following a water heater explosion in a Collin County home.

The August 25 explosion took place in the 1300 block of County Road 546 in Nevada, Texas, a small community near Lake Lavon.

Two construction workers were replacing a gas line on the side of the home when the water heater exploded. Several agencies had responded to reports of a gas leak while the lines were being replaced.

The Collin County Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the exact cause of the explosion, according to a social media public service announcement by the county sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office added that several area fire departments assisted with the emergency call.

The injured individuals were treated at the scene.

No other specifics about the case have yet been released.
