The Plano Police Department is running a recruitment campaign and accepting applications for the position of Police Officer Recruit; they are especially desirous of hiring currently certified Texas peace officers.
Existing certified Texas peace officers interested in moving to the Plano Police Department may attend a four-to-six-week mini academy versus the traditional 32-week new officer training program. Texas peace officers who complete the October academy class would be eligible to work within Plano as soon as December.
Plano Recruit Officers will earn a $94,000 salary after just 36 months; the pay rate for officers caps out at $99,120 annually.
Candidates are expected to be “highly motivated, ethical, and dedicated to the Plano Police Department’s Mission Statement.” They must submit their applications to the department no later than 11:59 p.m. on August 5.
A civil service examination will be held on Saturday, August 20. According to a post on the Plano Police Department’s social media account, test tutoring is offered.
