Shryonne Avery’s selfless care for her mother and her adopted nephew did not go unnoticed by her best friend, Deirdre George, who nominated Avery to receive a “Little Wish.”

Little Wish is a unique initiative sponsored by Sam Pack Auto Group and featured on WFAA that grants small acts of kindness to members of the community. Anyone can nominate someone they feel is deserving or in need of a “Little Wish.”

Avery moved to Texas to care for her mother, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Avery’s mother had adopted a grandchild, Amari, whom she was raising as her son. However, after Avery’s mother lost her battle with cancer, Avery took on the care of Amari.

“Her needs will go on the backburner 100%,” said George, who was the one to give Avery the news of her “Little Wish.”

Avery had spent months caring for her mother and Amari and never complained, only doing what was needed, day in and day out, according to George.

“Your Little Wish from Sam Pack Auto Group is a $5,000 Visa gift card to use on a trip to Disney for you and Amari,” George informed Avery on a Zoom call with WFAA.

“Are you punking me?” Avery asked through tears and laughter. Amari was shocked as well, running away from the call in disbelief.

“You’ve stepped in as this awesome woman, and you are to raise this special boy who is an amazing gift,” said George.

Avery and Amari will have something to celebrate at Disney World as Avery will legally adopt Amari in July.

“This [trip] is an opportunity not only he’s going to cherish, but I’m going to cherish for a lifetime,” said Avery.

“I don’t have words,” she said to George. “I love you. How about that? I love you!”

“I love you more!” replied George.
