(Texas Scorecard) – Following President Joe Biden’s announcement that he will not seek reelection, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick has suggested that former President Barack Obama is gearing up for a “fourth term.”
“Obama is seeking his 4th term as President,” Patrick posted Sunday on X. “The June debate was a hit job on Biden by his own party; humiliating him was step one to run him out.”
“There was no need for Biden to debate that early, as I said at the time. They were with him every day. They knew how badly he would perform,” Patrick continued. He also accused Obama of running the White House—as opposed to Biden—and said he “will continue to run it” with either the assistance of Vice President Kamala Harris or Michelle Obama.
The lieutenant governor said Biden was picked back in 2020 so Obama could effectively serve a third term. Now, Patrick is levying accusations against him for attempting to dominate a fourth term.
Only weeks before the Democratic National Convention, Joe Biden announced he wouldn’t seek reelection. In his statement, he endorsed Harris for the office.
His endorsement of Harris received fierce backlash and criticism from Texas state leaders.
Gov. Greg Abbott, for example, posted on X Sunday “You will see a lot of this. The ‘border czar’ has been an utter failure. America’s future is bleak if the border czar becomes president.”
He also suggested that he would need to revamp the state’s border security measures if Harris received the Democrat nomination.
“Joe Biden has now endorsed and fully supports his ‘Borders Czar’ Kamala Harris to be the Democrat candidate for president,” Abbott stated. “I think I will need to triple the border wall, razor wire barriers and National Guard on the border.”
