Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced Monday that five more counties devastated by recent flooding will receive federal disaster aid.
President Donald Trump approved adding Burnet, Llano, Mason, McCulloch, and Tom Green counties to the Major Disaster Declaration. The expansion means 10 Texas counties now qualify for FEMA’s Public Assistance program, providing crucial funding to rebuild damaged infrastructure and facilities.
The previously approved counties include Kendall, Kerr, Kimble, Menard, and San Saba.
“President Trump’s approval of my request to add more counties to his disaster declaration is another critical step to get Texans the support they need to recover,” said Gov. Abbott. “Burnet, Llano, Mason, McCulloch, and Tom Green counties are now eligible for crucial public assistance to rebuild.”
Abbott thanked President Trump for swiftly approving the request.
“Texas continues to work around-the-clock to help every impacted community heal and rebuild,” he added.
Six counties remain eligible for FEMA’s Individual Assistance program, which provides assistance to residents with temporary housing and home repairs. Those counties are Burnet, Kerr, San Saba, Tom Green, Travis, and Williamson.
Texans can apply for individual disaster assistance online at disasterassistance.gov or by calling 800-621-3362. Additional counties may be added as damage assessments continue.
The governor has taken multiple actions to support flood recovery efforts. These include visiting impacted areas with President Trump in Kerrville and launching a Texas Flooding Emotional Support Line.
Abbott has also announced disaster unemployment assistance and surveyed flood damage throughout affected regions. State emergency response resources remain deployed as communities begin the long process of recovery.
