Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has announced the launch of an enhanced three-agency website designed to improve Texas’ education-to-workforce pipeline.
The website’s enhancement was the result of collaborative efforts between the Texas Education Agency (TEA), the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), and the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), according to a June 30 news release from the Office of the Texas Governor.
This news release also outlined multiple ways that this website can help students find jobs after school.
By improving this website, students will gain access to additional grant opportunities, enhanced advising tools, and opportunities for more apprenticeships and career pathways.
Additionally, the website is expected to help users learn about the alignment of public education, higher education, and workforce initiatives.
Multiple leaders from this project presented comments about the achievement, with Abbott writing that “Texas continues to build the workforce that will lead the economy of tomorrow.”
“That starts with supporting the education pipeline between our schools and employers. This education-to-workforce website will give Texas students the tools and training they need to succeed in the better job and bigger paycheck opportunities we provide in our great state.”
TEA Commissioner Mike Morath also provided thoughts on the new website.
“The Tri-Agency Workforce Initiative helps expand pathways for all Texans by fostering collaboration and strengthening support for these critical efforts,” he stated in the news release. “This improved site provides easy access to resources and information that will help schools give students a foundation for post-secondary success.”
The enhanced website comes following multiple months of Abbott working to improve the lives of students, with the governor recently announcing $2.4 million in grants through the TWC to help students.
Additionally, Abbott has worked to help improve education for younger students, as the Texas legislature implemented school reform during the most recent session.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Texas is now set to implement the largest education savings account program in the country, with $1 billion allocated by lawmakers to enable students and families to control their education.
