Fort Hood Soldier Dies In Vehicle Rollover During Training

A 1st Cavalry Division soldier died following a vehicle rollover incident at Fort Hood, near Killeen, Texas, during training on Monday, according to the U.S. Army.

A second soldier was injured in the incident and is receiving medical care. No additional information about the injured soldier has been released.

The identity of the deceased soldier is being withheld for 24 hours after notification of the next of kin is complete, officials said.

The Army has not released additional details about the circumstances of the rollover.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our First Team Soldier,” said Brig. Gen. Ethan Diven, acting commanding general of the 1st Cavalry Division.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Trooper’s family, loved ones, and teammates. The 1st Cavalry Division is steadfast in supporting them through this difficult time,” Diven said.

The incident remains under investigation. Fort Hood officials said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
