Texas Congressman Wesley Hunt will headline a GOP fundraiser event for veterans in Iowa that includes a motorcycle ride and hog roast.
The annual Roast and Ride fundraiser, hosted by Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA), historically draws top presidential candidates to raise money for veterans. Hunt (R-TX), an Army veteran who served in Iraq as an Apache helicopter pilot, will be a featured speaker.
“I am honored to join Senator Joni Ernst and other great patriots for the 2024 Roast and Ride in Des Moines,” Hunt told The Dallas Express. “Iowa has become my second home. From marrying the love of my life, Emily, who was born and raised in Maquoketa, to having the honor of traveling the state in 2023 and 2024 on behalf of President Trump, I have come to call the people of Iowa my friends and neighbors.”
The event will take place on June 1 and begins with a motorcycle ride before a pig roast barbeque for attendees.
“I look forward to hitting the road with freedom-loving conservatives who are energized to take our country back this November,” Hunt told The Dallas Express.
The event will benefit the Veterans of Foreign Wars Foundation.
Hunt has served Texas’ 38th congressional district since 2023.
Ernst is the first female combat veteran to be elected to the Senate.
The Roast and Ride drew several Republican presidential candidates last year, such as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former Vice President Mike Pence, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, and U.S. Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina.
