Everything Bigger In Texas: Average $4,344 Tax Refund Boosted By Trump’s Historic Tax Relief

Texans are getting more back from the IRS than nearly anyone else in the country this tax season, and the numbers show clearly how President Donald Trump’s Working Families Tax Cuts have impacted the Lone Star State.

According to data from the Republican National Committee, the average tax refund for Texas filers this season is $4,344 – the second-highest in the nation. That figure sits well above the national average of over $3,400, which itself represents an 11% jump from the last filing season.

Texans earning under $50,000 are getting about $3,300 back on average, while those making between $50,000 and $100,000 are seeing a return of roughly $3,600. For higher earners in the $100,000 to $200,000 range, average refunds climb to around $5,300.

RNC spokesman Zach Kraft pointed directly to the Working Families Tax Cuts – signed into law last July – as the engine behind those gains.

“Everything is bigger in Texas, including this year’s tax refunds, thanks to the Working Families Tax Cuts,” Kraft told The Dallas Express.

“Texans have a lot more money in their pocket today because President Trump and Republicans delivered the largest middle-class tax cut in history. But if James Talarico had it his way, we would return to the same failed socialist agenda that led to Bidenflation and skyrocketing costs,” Kraft continued.

Rep. James Talarico (TX-D) has previously been a vocal critic of the Republican tax package, part of a bigger push by Democrats who argue it favors higher earners and wealthy corporations, as previously reported by DX.

And yet, more than 53 million Americans – about 45% of filers – used at least one of its key provisions, including over 105 million who claimed the doubled standard deduction and more than 34 million families who took the enhanced Child Tax Credit. In Texas, the overtime deduction has also been widely used, with about 27% of filers benefiting from the no-tax-on-overtime provision. Nationwide, more than 25 million people claimed it, with average savings exceeding $3,100.

Seniors are also seeing relief. Roughly 4 million Texas seniors are benefiting from the no-tax-on-Social-Security provision, according to the RNC, alongside the Enhanced Deduction for Seniors claimed by more than 30 million Americans nationwide, averaging over $7,500.

With one of the highest average refunds in the nation and widespread use of popular provisions like the enhanced Child Tax Credit, doubled standard deduction, and no tax on overtime, the legislation is delivering tangible relief to families, workers, and seniors across the Lone Star State — putting more money back in the pockets of everyday Texans.
