(Texas Scorecard) – Club for Growth has launched its latest six-figure ad campaign to rally support for school choice in Austin.
The ad, titled “New Era,” began airing today and will run through the week.
“For too many years Texas kids languished in schools that weren’t right for them, their parents powerless to choose one that was, told by bureaucrats that’s just how the system works, but it wasn’t working for all Texans, and it’s time for that to change,” the ad states.
Viewers are encouraged to call their legislator and ask them to “vote yes on House Bill 3,” referring to proposed school choice legislation.
HB 3 creates Education Savings Accounts, which would provide up to $10,000 per student to help families choose the best educational option for their children.
Current budget proposals in both the House and Senate allocate $1 billion in the program’s first year, meaning around 100,000 students would benefit initially.
HB 3 was approved in the House Public Education Committee last week but has not yet received a vote on the floor.
The effort is part of a $1 million push from Club for Growth to advance educational freedom in Texas.
The organization was heavily involved in last year’s Primary Elections, spending $8.5 million to unseat 10 incumbent Republicans in the Texas House who opposed school choice policies.
