A crane collapse in the small town of Celina on Friday resulted in one death, with multiple first-responder agencies reporting to the scene.

The incident follows the severe weather system that blew through North Texas Thursday evening. However, it is unclear whether the storms played a part in the collapse.

WFAA reported that the Celina, Prosper, and Frisco fire departments have all responded to the call, which the news outlet claimed was the construction site for Dan Christie Elementary School.

The City of Celina referred The Dallas Express to the McKinney-based construction company Pogue Construction to answer questions about the incident.

A spokesperson for the company, David Margulies, sent a statement to The Dallas Express:

“We have just learned that a worker at the site of a new elementary school we have under construction was fatally injured in an accident involving a subcontractor’s crane at the site. We wish to express our condolences and offer our prayers to his friends, family and colleagues. Safety is our company’s paramount concern, and we have a team on site to assist in the investigation.”

The Dallas Express followed up with Margulies and asked about the subcontractor.

He responded, “I confirmed the man who died worked for a subcontractor but do not know the name of the subcontractor at this time.”
