(Texas Scorecard) – At the Edinburg airport on Tuesday, Gov. Greg Abbott and incoming Border Czar Tom Homan served dinner rolls to the soldiers, guardsmen, and state troopers working to deter and detain illegal aliens.

“There’s help on the way,” said Abbott as he introduced Homan.

“We can guarantee it: President Trump will secure the border. He did it before, and he’ll do it again,” said Homan. “President Trump is going to shut down the border.”

Homan promised that, under Department of Homeland Security Secretary-designate Kristi Noem, the agency would “give help [to] you, not sue you for doing your job.”

He also said the administration remains committed to a mass deportation program. “At the heels of the biggest immigration crisis we’ve ever seen in this nation, there has to be a massive deportation operation.”

Homan added, “If we don’t remove them, what the hell are we doing?”

Both Homan and Abbott referred to the violent crimes being perpetrated against Americans by illegal aliens. The governor called the border operations in Texas “an unprecedented response to an unprecedented threat” before alluding to the murder of Jocelyn Nungaray earlier this year in Houston.

“This mission that you are on right now is on your homeland,” said Abbott. “What I know from the very top levels of government through the streets of the people in the Rio Grande Valley, up to the Corpus area, to Houston, to Dallas, and across the state, that is how much our fellow Texans appreciate you, your service, and what you’ve done to stand up [in] an unprecedented response to deter, to deny, illegal entry into our country.”

Abbott and Homan, as well as the senior leadership of the Texas Military Forces and the Department of Public Safety, then served Thanksgiving meals to the soldiers, guardsmen, and troopers present.
