What started with a Collins County constable trying to serve a warrant Monday ended up as a five-hour standoff at a Plano apartment complex.

The chain of events began around 10 a.m. when the constable arrived at the Los Rios Park Apartment to serve 38-year-old Adam Marcos Mostafa with an aggravated assault warrant.

During the constable’s attempt, Mostafa apparently barricaded himself in an apartment, per Plano Police Department spokesperson Andrae Smith.

Plano police officers arrived on the scene a few minutes after the constable called for backup. The area around the apartment complex, located at 4701 14th Street, was cordoned off, and traffic was redirected while the SWAT negotiation team spoke with Mostafa.

Law enforcement was successful in attempting to keep the situation de-escalated by maintaining constant communication for nearly five hours with the suspect, said Smith.

At around 3 p.m., Mostafa was taken into custody. No injuries were reported.

Mostafa was booked in Collin County jail for alleged aggravated assault against a public servant. As of Wednesday afternoon, Mostafa was still in custody in lieu of a $150,000 bond. It is unknown whether Mostafa has an attorney.
