A report of a dead body found Wednesday in a wooded area in northeast Harris County turned out to be a false alarm.

At 2:53 p.m. on June 14, the sheriff’s office received a report of what the caller believed to be a woman’s body stuffed inside a bag. Deputies were immediately dispatched to the scene in the 5800 block of Brunswick Street.

When deputies arrived, they saw what appeared to be a woman’s body, but they did not disturb the scene further and waited for homicide detectives to arrive.

At 3:46 p.m., the Harris County Sheriff’s Office tweeted an advisory that reported the location, stating, “The body of a deceased female was discovered, foul play is suspected. PIO, CSI & Homicide Investigators are en route.”

The homicide detectives investigated further and found what appeared to be a woman’s dismembered body wearing undergarments. However, they noticed that there was no foul smell as would be expected from a decaying body.

After a video consultation with the medical examiner, it was determined that what was found in the bag was not a human corpse based on the lack of decomposition. It was eventually determined that the object in the bag was a life-size anatomically-correct silicone sex doll.

At 5:03 p.m., a little over two hours after receiving the initial call, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez posted another tweet stating that the previous advisory had been a “false call” and that, after closer inspection, the object was “not a body.”

Officers told ABC13 they did not take the doll with them as they left the scene.

The incident comes days after law enforcement found two actual dead bodies in the area. Deputies discovered one body in the waters of Sheldon Lake State Park on June 10. Another body was found along the roadside in East Harris County near Crosby Freeway on Tuesday, Fox News reported.

Investigations into these two deaths are still in progress.
