A Texas delivery driver’s body was discovered on Monday after the man had been missing for a week, according to the Madisonville County Sheriff’s Office and EquuSearch.
The driver, identified as 69-year-old Henry Schelsteder, was last known to be driving his gray F-350 truck en route to Waxahachie to pick up a part on the previous Monday, May 2.
Schelsteder called and informed his boss that he was approximately 15 minutes away from the Buc-ee’s gas station on I-45 in Madisonville on May 2. However, his body was discovered inside his wrecked vehicle along I-45 between mile markers 127 and 128 in Walker County on May 9.
When Schelsteder failed to show up at the facility for the pickup, his close friend and coworker Ken Tittel got concerned. He claimed Schelsteder made the journey frequently.
Tittel was also worried about Schelsteder’s disappearance because he was known to have heart problems and could not be without his medication. The friend called Schelsteder a “great guy” and “very dependable,” stating that he had known him for 30 years and was not the type to “just take off.”
The cause of the crash has not been released. The Walker County Sheriff’s Office is investigating whether there was any foul play or if he was having a medical issue that caused him to veer off the road.
