According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), a 6-year-old girl died after being struck by a school bus on Monday afternoon in Parker County.

In a news release, DPS Sergeant Richard Hunter stated a school bus for Brock ISD had stopped to drop off multiple students in the 400 block of Canyon Creek Circle at around 4 p.m. As the bus began to depart, it hit the child. The girl died at the scene of the accident.

“We are deeply saddened to confirm reports that a student was involved in a school bus accident this afternoon,” said the school district in a post on Facebook. “No other students were injured.”
