In a Class 6A Region 1 semifinal that pitted two teams that are nearly identical, the Coppell Cowboys baseball team bowed out to the Keller Indians in their series finale on May 29.

The Cowboys pushed the Eagles to the limit in Games 1 and 2 of the semifinal, but couldn’t overcome the pitching of Braden Davis and the at-bat dominance of Clayton Thomas in Game 3, falling 7-4.

The loss, however, didn’t stop the program from reflecting with awe on the now-concluded campaign.

Coppell, which finished the season 31-9-1, rode a six-game winning streak into the playoffs.

The Cowboys were also ranked ninth in the Diamond Pro/THSB 6A Top 25 poll.
