South Grand Prairie star midfielder Allie Cantu is headed to Kansas and Central Christian College for the next phase of her career.
“Congratulations to Allie Cantu on signing her National Letter of Intent to play soccer at Central Christian College of Kansas,” the school posted on Twitter. “We are very proud of you.”
After leading the South Grand to the third-round of the state playoffs, Cantu’s arrival at Central Christian is much anticipated.
“We are excited to add Allie to our family,” Central coach Cole Ouren said on the school’s website. “Allie comes to Central after being coached by two former alumni of Central, both of which were a part of the National Championship teams under Coach Jerry Malone. Allie is a smart and athletic player that is extremely competitive.”
Ouren hinted he sees no reason why Cantu can’t instantly become a part of the Lady Tigers’ rotation.
“She is used to playing under pressure at a competitive level in which expectations are always high,” he said. “Allie will come into our program with equally high expectations as we look to make another run for the SAC conference tournament and NCCAA National championship. Allie is another piece to a strong and growing 2021 recruiting class.”
Cantu has also gained experience competing for the Juventus Premier FC club team out of the Dallas Fort Worth Area.
