Iowa State University quarterback Hunter Dekkers has been accused of betting on his school’s athletic events.

Dekkers allegedly placed 26 bets on Iowa State games, including a football game in which he was the team’s backup quarterback.

On Tuesday, the Story County Attorney’s Office filed charges against him for “tampering with records,” reported the Des Moines Register. Deckers is one of more than 10 student-athletes currently under investigation. The investigation remains ongoing, which means more charges could be filed.

The complaint alleges that a DraftKings account belonging to Dekkers’ mother made 366 total sports bets, totaling more than $2,700, according to The Sporting News. If he is found guilty, he would receive a lifetime ban from the NCAA.

Dekkers was entering his second season as the team’s projected starting quarterback. Last season, he threw for the third-most yards in the Big 12 and fourth-most in a single season for the Cyclones while earning honorable mention All-Big 12 honors and leading the team to a 4-8 record.

Offensive lineman Dodge Sauser, Iowa State wrestler Paniro Johnson, and current NFL defensive end Eyioma “Enyi” Uwazurike were also charged.

The Dallas Express reached out to the Iowa State football program for comment and was referred to a statement from Senior Associate Athletic Director Nick Joos, which reads, “We are in the process of gathering information and will have no further comment at this time.”
