Kevin Durant and Sam Acho headline the 11 athletes that will be inducted into the University of Texas Athletics Hall of Honor on September 16.

The new Hall of Honor members will also be recognized during the University of Texas Longhorns’ home football game against UTSA on September 17.

Kevin Durant played just one season of basketball at the University of Texas in 2006-07 before entering the NBA draft but did enough to have his No. 35 jersey retired by the school. During his lone season in Austin, Durant earned first-team All-Big 12 and unanimous All-American honors and was also the unanimous National Player of the Year.

He has since become a three-time Olympic Gold Medalist, 12-time NBA All-Star, and two-time NBA Champion, and won the NBA’s Most Valuable Player award in 2014. Durant is currently a member of the Brooklyn Nets.

Sam Acho played football for the Longhorns from 2007-10. He earned First-Team All-American honors during his senior season at the University of Texas and won the National Football Foundation’s William V. Campbell Trophy, considered the ‘Academic’ Heisman Trophy.

Acho played nine seasons in the NFL and is now an analyst on ESPN.
