Top Texas prospect Keyonte George from the class of 2022 has declared to play for the defending national champ Baylor Bears.

The five-star’s commitment comes after narrowing his list of schools down to five: Texas, Baylor, Kansas, Oklahoma State and Kentucky. The Longhorns were a trendy pick to land George after securing his future teammate in four-star guard Arterio Morris back in July.

George is 6’4” and 185 lbs. He is the top 2022 recruit out of the state and the second-best recruit out of the nation, according to 247Sports composite rankings. He is listed as a shooting guard but likes to refer to himself as a scoring guard. It is a fitting title after averaging just under 24 points per game as a junior at iSchool of Lewisville.

With George’s commitment, the Bears now own the 11th best recruiting class of the nation and the second best in the Big 12. George joins Dillon Hunter, a four-star guard ranked as the third best recruit out of Kansas. This will make the second straight class the Bears will be getting a five-star and two recruits ranked in the top 100.

Along with George and with the addition of Morris, the iSchool of Lewisville Cougars will be loaded with a roster of top 2022 recruits. Forward Trae Clayton is the 21st best prospect out the state and point guard Cruz Davis has committed to play for Oregon State.

The Bears will have big shoes to fill with the lost of four starters from their championship team. Landing George is a step in the right direction as he will be the second highest ranked high school recruit for the Bears after Isaiah Austin (No. 2, c/o 2012).
