Former New England Patriots quarterback and NFL legend Tom Brady announced that he will be donating $100,000 to help those in Florida dealing with the impact of Hurricane Milton after it made landfall on Wednesday night.

Although Brady spent the first 20 years of his career as a member of the Patriots, he chose to play quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the final three seasons of his career. He continues to live in Florida.

Brady posted on social media on Thursday to announce that he will be making the donation, which he stated will be used for “food, water, and first aid to fellow Floridians in need.”

He added, “Keep those impacted by these storms in your prayers, look out for your neighbors, and continue to help out anyway you’re able. Stay safe, and stay strong Florida.”

Brady’s announcement comes shortly after the storm landed in Florida on Wednesday as a Category 3 hurricane, resulting in millions without power and at least four confirmed deaths, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

The company Gopuff, which is a food and goods delivery service, says it will  match Brady’s donation and will use its funds to benefit the Volunteer Florida Foundation.

Storm surges due to the hurricane reached upwards of 10 feet in certain portions of the Florida Gulf Coast, though the surges were still less than the initial projections that determined surges could reach as high as 15 feet in certain areas, according to CNN.

Milton is expected to cause anywhere from $30 billion to $50 billion in insured losses, according to The Business Insider.

These losses are expected to be the largest since 2022, when Hurricane Ian caused an estimated $60 billion in damages throughout Florida and the Carolinas.
