The Dallas Stars resumed their second-round playoff series, and the Frisco RoughRiders continued a six-game set in Midland. Here is what happened on the ice, on the field, and behind the scenes.

NHL

Dallas Stars (series tied 1-1)

Last Game: Stars 4, Seattle Kraken 2

The Stars scored three goals in the second period, and Tyler Seguin added one off a tip in the third to secure a series-tying win before heading to Seattle for games three and four. Seattle threatened late with their goalie pulled but did not find the back of the net.

Noteworthy: Joe Pavelski scored his fifth goal in the last two games on a rebound in the second period, becoming the second player to accomplish the feat after age 35 and the second active player to do it in the first two games of a series. His 69 career playoff goals trail only Alexander Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby among active players.

Wyatt Johnston’s goal made him the first rookie of the 2023 Playoffs to score multiple goals in the postseason. He is the fifth Stars rookie to do so.

Minor League Baseball

Frisco RoughRiders (12-12, tied second in Texas League South Division, tied fourth in AA Texas League)

Last Game: Midland Rockhounds 11, RoughRiders 6

After the RoughRiders got out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, Midland jumped all over Frisco’s pitching with eight runs over the next two innings. The RockHounds came up with seven extra-base hits, including three home runs, while Frisco’s offense was relatively quiet after the first inning.

Noteworthy: Rangers top prospect Evan Carter went 3-3 with two runs scored, while Luisangel Acuna, Dustin Harris, and Thomas Saggese had an RBI each.

Harris stole home to score the third run in the top of the first inning.

Thursday’s loss was the first game Frisco has lost when outhitting its opponent this season. The RoughRiders entered the game 10-0 in such situations.

Rangers prospect Jack Leiter gets the start for Frisco as the teams continue their series on Friday.
