With the Frisco RoughRiders’ game suspended in the fifth inning, Thursday was a rare off day for most of the local sports teams.

Here is what happened behind the scenes as the teams prepare to return to play on Friday.

NHL

Dallas Stars (series tied 1-1)

Noteworthy: Forward Joe Pavelski, who left Game 1 of the series after taking a big hit in the second period, did not travel with the Stars to Minnesota for Games 3 and 4.

— Dallas was 25-11-5 on the road during the regular season and split its two road games in Minnesota. The 25 wins tied the franchise record for most road wins in a single season.

NFL

Dallas Cowboys (offseason)

Noteworthy: The Cowboys have picked up the fifth-year option on wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. The 2020 first-round pick has 3,396 yards and 20 touchdowns in his first three seasons.

— Restricted free agent offensive lineman Terence Steele signed his second-round restricted free agent tender to remain with the team for the 2023-24 season.

— In a recent survey, Cowboys fans were rated the second-most desperate fanbase in the NFL — trailing only the New York Jets. The survey asked 1,004 fans across the country what they would be willing to give up for a year in exchange for a Super Bowl.

— Safety Jayron Kearse is switching to No.0 this season.
