The Dallas Stars and the Frisco RoughRiders Double-A baseball team were the only local teams in action Thursday night.

Here is what happened on the ice, on the field, and behind the scenes.

NHL

Dallas Stars (47-21-14, first in Central Division, third in Western Conference)

Last Game: Stars 1, St. Louis Blues 0

The Stars closed the regular season at home with their sixth win in a row. Rookie forward Wyatt Johnston scored his 24th goal of the season to break a scoreless tie less than four minutes into the third period. Goalie Jake Oettinger stopped 25 shots to earn his fifth shutout of the season.

Noteworthy: Dallas finishes the regular season with 108 points, on a six-game winning streak, and currently sits in first place in the Central Division. If the Colorado Avalanche loses to the Nashville Predators on Friday, the Stars will win the division.

— While they do not yet know who they will play since there are still regular season games left for other teams to play, the Stars have announced that their first two playoff games will be played at the American Airlines Center on Monday, April 17, and Wednesday, April 19.

— Oettinger is tied for second in the NHL with five shutouts this season.

— Johnston’s 24th goal gives him the most of a Stars’ rookie since James Neal in 2008-09.

Next Up: Playoff game TBD, April 17

Minor League Baseball

Frisco RoughRiders (3-3, fifth in Class AA Texas League)

Last Game: RoughRiders 8, San Antonio Missions 1

The RoughRiders won their second in a row after dropping three of their first four games to start the season. Frisco scored four runs in the top of the first inning — thanks to a Thomas Saggese three-run triple and a Trevor Hauver single — and added three more in the third. Meanwhile, San Antonio was held scoreless until the bottom of the ninth, when Tirso Ornelas launched a solo home run off Grant Anderson.

Noteworthy: Texas Rangers No.2 prospect Owen White allowed one hit and stuck out four in four and two-thirds innings as the Frisco starter.

Next Up: RoughRiders at Missions (2-4), 7:05 p.m. CT Friday
