The Dallas Stars continued the Western Conference Finals, while the Texas Rangers and the Frisco RoughRiders took the baseball field on Tuesday.

Here is what happened on the ice, on the field, and behind the scenes.

NHL Playoffs

Dallas Stars (Vegas leads series 3-0)

Last Game: Vegas Golden Knights 4, Stars 0

Vegas scored three goals on its first five shots to take an early commanding lead and chase Stars’ goalie Jake Oettinger after just 7:10 of game time. Dallas outshot Vegas 34-16, but the Stars never found the back of the net in a shutout loss.

Noteworthy: Dallas is one loss away from elimination.

— Stars captain Jamie Benn was ejected from the game early in the first period as he was called for a five-minute game misconduct for a cross-check on Vegas’ Mark Stone. The Golden Knights scored their second goal of the game on the ensuing power play.

— Evgenii Dadonov left the game in the first period with a lower-body injury and did not return. Head coach Pete DeBoer had no updates on his condition while meeting with the reporters after the game.

— Scott Wedgewood stopped 10 of the 11 shots he faced after replacing Oettinger.

MLB

Texas Rangers (30-18, first in American League West)

Last Game: Rangers 6, Pittsburgh Pirates 1

Nathan Eovaldi stymied the Pittsburgh offense, allowing one run in nine innings as he threw his second complete game of the season. Josh Jung’s two-run single in the sixth gave the Rangers some breathing room, and he came around to score later that inning to make it a 5-1 game. Jung also added a solo home run in the eighth.

Noteworthy: The Rangers remain in first place in the AL West and have the third-best record in the MLB behind Tampa Bay and Baltimore. The 30-18 start is the team’s best since 2013.

— Texas scored two of its runs on balks Tuesday night for the second time in franchise history. The only other time was in 1988 against Seattle.

— Jung is on a seven-game hitting streak and leads all rookies with 11 home runs.

Next Up: Rangers at Pirates (25-23), 11:35 a.m. CT Wednesday

MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL

Frisco RoughRiders (18-21, third in Texas League South, tied fifth in AA Texas League)

Last Game: RoughRiders 2, Arkansas Travelers 1

Trevor Hauver’s two-run single in the fourth proved to be the difference in this low-scoring affair. Frisco starter Jack Leiter allowed just one run and one hit in four innings, and both bullpens shut down the opposing offenses in later innings.

Noteworthy: Frisco is now 4-3 against Arkansas this season and earned its first win when scoring less than three runs this season.

— Leiter entered the game with a 1.59 ERA in May and allowed less than three runs for the fourth consecutive start.

— RHP Marc Church (Rangers No.19 prospect) was promoted to Triple-A Round Rock.

Next Up: RoughRiders at Travelers (25-15), 6:35 p.m. CT Wednesday
