The Texas Rangers, Frisco RoughRiders, and FC Dallas were all in action Wednesday.

Here is what happened on the field and behind the scenes.

MLB

Texas Rangers (46-28, first in American League West)

Last Game: Rangers 6, Chicago White Sox 3

Eloy Jimenez gave Chicago a 1-0 lead with a double in the first inning, but Texas battled back to take a 3-1 lead on an Ezequiel Duran home run in the fourth. Catcher Jonah Heim helped the Rangers put the game away with a three-run shot in the fifth, while the White Sox added two more runs against Texas starter Martin Perez.

Noteworthy: Texas leads the AL West by 5.5 games over the Houston Astros.

— Heim’s home run was his 10th of the season, making him just the fourth Rangers catcher to hit at least 10 home runs in three consecutive years with the team.

— Heim, second baseman Marcus Semien, shortstop Corey Seager, third baseman Josh Jung, and outfielder Robbie Grossman (as a designated hitter) are all among the top five at their positions in All-Star votes. Outfielder Adolis Garcia is seventh among outfielders.

MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL

Frisco RoughRiders (28-36, fifth in Texas League South Division, eighth in AA Texas League)

Last Game: Springfield Cardinals 6, RoughRiders 2

Springfield scored all six runs in the third inning as it rolled to a victory in Frisco. Chandler Redmond, Noah Mendlinger, and Nick Dunn all doubled in runs, while Irving Lopez had an RBI single. Outfielder Evan Carter put Frisco on the board with a solo home run in the fourth and scored again on a Thomas Saggese triple in the ninth.

Noteworthy: Carter returned to the RoughRiders’ lineup after a stint on the injured list and went 3-4 with a home run and two runs scored. He was a double short of the first cycle in team history.

— Texas Rangers’ utilityman Brad Miller was in the Frisco lineup and hit second as the designated hitter in the second game of his rehab assignment. He went 0-4 in the game and is 0-8 overall.

— Saggese extended his current hit streak to 10 games, while outfielder Kellen Strahm extended his to 11.

FC Dallas (7-5-7, sixth in Western Conference)

Last Game: Austin FC 3, FC Dallas 0

FC Dallas was shut out in the latest Copa Tejas matchup as Austin FC scored a season-high three goals. Ethan Finlay put Austin on the board 17 minutes into the match as he came up with the ball after it went off multiple FC Dallas defenders and took an open shot. Diego Fagundez added another goal in the 42nd minute, and Gyasi Zardes scored the third in the 58th minute.

Noteworthy: Weather forced the teams to push back the game’s start time.

— FC Dallas is now in sixth place in the Western Conference, trailing the Houston Dynamo and San Jose Earthquakes by a point.

–FC Dallas is now 1-3 during June and has just one win in its last seven games.
