The Texas Rangers were the only local team in action Monday.

Here is what happened on the field and behind the scenes.

MLB

Texas Rangers (21-13, first in American League West)

Last Game: Rangers 2, Seattle Mariners 1

The Rangers did not collect a hit until a Marcus Semien single to lead off the seventh inning. Texas would add two more hits in the inning and score two runs to take a 2-1 lead. J Hernandez and Will Smith held Seattle to just two more baserunners for the rest of the game as the Rangers earned their 21st win of the season.

Noteworthy: Monday was the Rangers’ first win when trailing after six innings this season.

— Texas has been in first place in the AL West for 38 of the 39 days of the 2023 season.

— Free-agent signee Andrew Heaney takes the mound for Game 2 on Tuesday.

Next Up: Rangers at Mariners (17-18), 8:40 p.m. CT Tuesday

NHL PLAYOFFS

Dallas Stars (Seattle Kraken lead series, 2-1)

Noteworthy: Defenseman Miro Heiskanen, who left Sunday’s loss after taking a puck to the face, is considered day-to-day.

— Dallas trails a series 2-1 for the second time this postseason. Stars rallied to win their first-round series against Minnesota 4-2 in six games.

MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL

Frisco RoughRiders (13-14, tied second in Texas League South Division, tied fifth in AA Texas League)

Noteworthy: Three Frisco players won monthly awards from the Texas Rangers farm system. Outfield Evan Carter is the Player of the Month, pitcher Grant Wolfram is the Relief Pitcher of the Month, and shortstop Luisangel Acuna is the Defender of the Month.

— The RoughRiders return home on Tuesday, looking to stop a two-game losing skid. Frisco went 5-7 on its two-week road trip in Amarillo and Midland.

Next Up: Wichita Wind Surge (10-17) at RoughRiders, 6:05 p.m. CT Tuesday
